tezukuri (手作り) The Japanese to English translations and meanings for Tezukuri include handmade, hand-crafted & homemade. Claire explains about Tezukurio Accessories –
On my travels, I have been inspired by traditional craftspeople, visited fascinating museums, busy flea markets and intriguing little shops. Many of my products are made with textiles sourced on these trips, which means that once they’re gone, they’re gone – no going back to get an extra yard of that lovely kimono fabric found at a flea market in Kyoto! Apart from fabrics I’ve collected, some of the items feature textiles designed, or sometimes printed by me. Many incorporate recycled materials such as zips, denim and vintage fabrics, and occasionally I will also include hand finishing details such as sashiko or beading. As much care is spent choosing linings as for the exterior fabrics, so all items are as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside. As everything is handmade, they may not be factory perfect but will have a unique character not found in mass-produced products.
