Karen’s love of crafting was inspired by her mother and grandmother and began dressmaking, crochet and knitting from an early age. After getting her first home, creative home furnishings soon followed but during a busy career in banking, followed by running her own business and having a young family as the same time, there seemed little time for anything creative.
While her daughter was studying Textiles for GCSE & A Levels Karen soon realised what she was missing and so began to search out her sewing basket and needles once again. Crafting had now become ‘cool’ and there was much more on offer allowing Karen to develop new skills in other areas too.
In 2010 Jennie founded Lechlade Music Festival, an award-winning 3-day family-friendly music festival. In 2014 Karen also became part of Lechlade Music Festival and later that year they founded Lechlade Craft Barn, offering craft workshops from a beautiful stone barn in the Cotswolds. Both share a keen interest in continually developing their making skills, introducing new ideas and keeping ahead of fashion and interiors trends.
The duo are members of Team Crafty Beggars - a collective of crafters, designers and makers - some well-known faces - to be found at national craft events.
They can also be found teaching on Supercraft Cruises with celebrity crafter and actress Julie Peasgood.
